Motorsport Shifter From Scrap

So I decided that I wanted to put a motorsports style shifter in my car.

I had a friend who had an All Smiles shifter which is just like the VW Motorsports ones from the 90's

So I decided to replicate it.

I did this with 50-60 year old machines all by hand.

Total cost so far $0

The shifter is basiclly 3 main pieces plus the cables.

So far I have 2 done


starting with a rough cut block




done.


I machined the main pivot hole larger for use with a brass or nylon bushing
2nd piece


done


last piece I need to make is the shifter rod.
Going to get working on this soon I hope.

I used a bandsaw, bridgeport mill and a big disc sander.

I used a lathe to make the bushings and will use the lathe for the shift rod.
