I am sick and tired of staining on my shirts and have been researching causes and solutions and the jury seems to be out. Some claim that is purely sweat that is causing it, some claim that it is a result of the aluminum in the antiperspirant mixing with sweat to cause the staining.

I am curious to see what everyone else does. I am not a huge sweater, but do find that I am staining shirts pretty regularly. I have recently picked up some deodorants to try and see if they can cut down on the staining, but also concerned that I will have excessive sweating without the anti-perspirant.

    Any suggestions?

I use the Malin and Goetz deodorant. I made the switch after reading somewhere that the aluminum in anti-perspirants can contribute to Alzheimers.

Is aluminum what makes antiperspirant so sticky? I can't wear it anymore. It tears up my pits.

Since I stopped using deodorant with Alluminum I have noticed that my T-shirts are no longer yellowing. I picked up a brand in Whole Foods, that was fairly inexpensive and works very well.

So you guys are saying there's no such thing as antiperspirant without aluminum?

Yes. The aluminum is what shrinks your pores and controls sweating. But it isn't exactly good for you. I am looking for any other alternatives that work to control sweating. I have switched to a plan deodorant this week and find that I really don't sweat all that much. I never really have pit stains etc so I am sure it is the anti perspirant causing the yellow. Nasty.

Natural sea salt crystal is the only antiperspirant without alum oxide.

Approved OTC antiperspirant active ingredients in the Code of Federal Regulations are all aluminum salts.

Then, scroll down to Part 350.

What sea salt crystal product is an antiperspirant? I've used Crystal products, but they were just deodorants, and didn't work well. I see another product by Wind Salt, but that's not an antiperspirant either.

You could use a product like Certain-Dri at night, and then just a real light simple deodorant during the day.

I know the CD has Aluminum Chlorida in it, but maybe the night usage will help? Just be careful, if you put too much on, it itches like crazy.
