Thread: Corrado vr6 159.9hp??? What is the problem??? Help!!!

  1. 05-08-2012 03:33 PM #1
Hello all, I have a corrado 2.9 vr6 engine revised recently (7500km), kolbenshmidt pistons, bearings king, victor reinz gaskets, recently I changed the servo pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires, the lambda sensor, hydraulic tappets, hydraulic chain tensioner, and more and more but i don't remember now. I made the compression test and the result was 12.5 bar on all cylinders(+/- 0.3bar). The only change I made was remove the catalyst and silencers and relaced with pipe 60mm, today I did a dyno texts and the result was 159.9hp. I also checked the timing and it's all right. You ideea what should I check again, or what the problem is? Sorry for my poor English. thanks

I'd like to attach the dyno file but i don't know how.

I don't think there's anything wrong with that if thats wheel HP, if you figure a 15% drivetrain loss that would put you around 161. You are within 1.1 of that. Which is well inside the margin of error of a dyno.

I am going to assume is not WHP as in europe most dynos quote just HP.

One easy check is a dead cam sensor.

    Need more Information:
    Coilpack or Distributor VR6?
Were ALL ignition Components replaced with Rebuild? Plugs, Wires, Ignition Coil/Cap/Rotor or Coilpack
    AIT Sensor
    Blue Coolant Temp Sensor
    ECM Itself.

I had a similar issue with a RETARDED VR6 Dyno of 119WHP. Replaced Coolant Temp Sensor and I made 134WHP. Drove back from MD and Replaced the ISV and O2 sensor, WHAM car came back to life.

ALL the items I listed are Suspect.

With distributor. If these sensors do not work should not list the errors when I make a diagnosis?

Don't just start throwing sensors at it, check Ignition Components and ISV First.

The spark plugs are new, wires are new, so I checked the distributor and coil. I will look on elsawin to see how.

But what really makes the ISV, I thought only regulates the mines!?

I noticed that I have a lean mixture because the spark plugs are white and also the exhaust, may be perhaps the fact that I made the cylinders from 2.8 to 2.9 and still have control of the 2.8?

    Thanks in advance!

The only error that comes up is the vehicle speed sensor, can be a problem? The odometer works fine.

You have to host the photos. Upload them to a site like photobucket, copy the link they create for you, then post here using the image tags.

If the VSS is not communicating with the ECU there will be issues with the engine cutting out in higher gears.

I did not understand, can it be that I lose 30 horsepower because the vss does not work?
