Lower it with Coilovers since you need new suspension anyways and Coilovers come with springs and struts. That's what I suggest and you did say yourself you want to lower it.

Well by lowering your ride you're eliminating the smooth ride. All Coilovers go over an inch and beyond that, at least that I know of. How much money are you trying to spend anyway? But don't forget if you do get new suspension I highly recommend you get upper and lower strut mounts with bearings and bolts orelse your car will sound like a tank that alone will cost you around $200-400.

Yes you can do that but it won't be adjustable. But I'd still recommend to get the strut mounts and stuff like I mentioned, but then again its all what you want to do.

You can get whatever struts you want, but getting new struts with aftermarket springs will let you lower your car once. That's why Coilovers come in handy. Idk how your winters are but in Chicago I can't have my car too low in the winter. Some strut brands are koni, Neuspeed, eibach, bilstein. I recently got my Coilovers from Raceland which cost me $411 but had to spend another $200 for the strut mounts, bearings and bolts like I mentioned to you. If need more Info shoot me your # in PM and il get back to you faster that way.
