Howdy All
Just ordered a brand new 2012 Sportwagen TDI, so it’s time to say goodbye to my passat.

It’s a 2003 Passat GLX v6 5-speed, 121000 miles.
Austin, TX
$5000 cash, firm

Green Exterior (Paint isn’t great.)
Black Leather Interior (Worn, some small tearing on driver’s seat.)
Monsoon Audio
GromAudio MP3 box + Bluetooth (Highly recommended for any old VW.)
Sunroof

Engine/Suspension is bone stock.

New Power Steering Pump (Thought it was going out, serpentine belt was just super worn.)
New Motor Mounts
New Front Brake Lines (rubber)

I have done my best to stay on top of maintenance, and have complete logs for everything I’ve done to it (and receipts for when it went somewhere to have something done to it.)

The “good” stuff:
engine still runs great, has plenty of torque
still gets about 20 city 26 highway
tranny still shifts great, clutch seems ok still
i’ve never put anything but synthetic fluids in the car (oil + trans fluid + brake fluid)
always run premium
bridgestone potenza RE960AS all around
rear tires have less than 2000 miles on them, fronts have about 10k
all front control arms, halfshafts, & wheel bearings done @ 112k miles
inner tie rods done @ 120k miles
timing belt and water pump @ 99k miles
rear shocks done @ 119k miles
have 2 switchblade keys
heated seats work

The “bad” stuff:
engine makes some strange noises for several seconds at cold startup. sort of like a chain rattling. rev over 1k and the sound disappears.
it throws an emissions code every 6 months or so (look @ spreadsheet for exact code)
even though all of the front suspension except for the shocks has been recently replaced, there is still a strange clunk when the weight of the car shifts rearward after breaking.
climatronic motors are all probably toast. vag-com whines about all of them every time I connect a scan tool. however, you can turn AC on max+recirc and it works great. heater works too.
rear washer fluid sprayer has never worked.
under-engine skirt is held on with zip-ties. all the stupid twist-n-turn things fell off.
valve cover gasket (even though both banks were replaced at 112k,) i think is still ever-so-slowly seeping oil.
interior has dog hair that i’ll never be able to fully clean (i will try.)
faux-wood trim on door handles is hanging on loosely
paint has chips and dings
tint has chips and dings
rear passenger’s side speaker distorts at high volumes
floor mat retention rings are worn
washer fluid motor is zip-tied together (still working, but i include a new one.)
rear ash tray is broken, won’t open
rear seat power outlet is physically, but not electrically, broken

KBB says $5199 private party sell, dealer offered me $3000 trade in, so it’s hereby offered for $5000 cash, firm. I figure it’s in fair condition by their definition, and I’ve done my best to exhaustively list all the qwirks of this car, so I’m saving you the trouble of haggling with me

I would really rather a forum member snap this thing up than me giving it to the dealer; seems so undignified an end for a car that was good to me.
