put a new shift knob in today. took net 3/4" off the top. where could this be headed...?

New work from today. Sorry for crappy iphone pics in the dark. Refinishing and redying the seats to like-new next week. Will post better pics when they're done.

These next pics were from a test fit before we welded the brackets. Better light. I blasted and painted the rails gloss black since then, they look sharp.

An //M shift knob on a VAG car looks... cheesy. Didn't you forget something? How 'bout an "M3" or better yet "M5" badge on the rear hatch?

lol...i respect your opinion. shift knob is tip of the iceberg, did you happen to see what's in the background in the first pic? when I'm done it will all come together. love my dub, using M3 as theme for whole-car build, lot going on right now, some of it hasn't been done before. lotta time lotta work...my goal: what would the ///M at bmw division do if they got their hands on a GTI? You won't see BMW anywhere, although one exception may be made later. M GTI. I have a ton of the oem M3 gear now. Ambitious but I hope original and amazing when finished. Some will love, other may hate...I'm excited. Fingers crossed.

Got any crackers for all that cheese?

I cringed at the mere mention of an M-themed golf but uh...ok. Good luck to ya. Keep it clean and I hope you have thick skin because the hate will be strong.

If you were around then, then you would remember the car. I don't remember what he did with the seats. It was 12 years ago.

NEK - As handy as a shirt pocket.

    -oem ///M weighted shift knob
    - oem M3 black leather Vader seats front and rear (not sure if i'll redye vw charcoal gray or black yet)
    - oem fitment e46 M3 competition package wheels (CSL style) directly off an e46 M3. 19x8.5 et40 fronts 19x9.5 et22 rears 5x120 bolt pattern, NO ADAPTERS or spacers.
-upgraded ecs geomet slotted and drilled rotors
    -oem e46 M3 exhaust w/quad tips

later this year oem e46 or e92 M3 steering wheel, bsh throttle pipe and snow perf stage 2 w/m. after i complete above going k04 then respraying whole car undisclosed oem ///M paint color. Got some more work done on the interior today. My friend welded plates to the Vaders. I painted the rails gloss black and they installed like a glove. Pumped. Having leather specialist refinish to like-new next week. Need to find some leather at a decent price to replace door inserts to match the seats. Anybody have advice there? More pics will be coming next week.

Sorry for crappy iPhone pics...they're made worse by the fact it's almost dark when I'm snapping these. Better pics after the seats are redone.

These next pics were from a test fit before we welded the brackets. Better light.

Extremely comfortable! Many more adjustments than stock seats...my favorite thing is the bolster you can bump out to support behind your knees. Makes a big difference. Gotta get em looking good now!!
