2012 Jetta TDi Programmers and Chips?

How do I reprogram or chip my 2012 Jetta TDi without voiding my warranty? I have read some out there claim to leave no foot prints on the ECU and the service guy at the VW dealersip said to just remove it before I bring it in for service but it is really as easy as that? Anyone out there with a 2011-2012 Jetta TDi that has their programmed/chipped and what can of performance are you getting now?
