    Hi all

I believe that the Golf 6 edition 35 has a Golf 5 engine. I just has newer maping, K04 Turbo, bigger intake, downpipe and exhaust.
Does anyone know what engine the Golf R has?

Roketdriver: Screw that. I'll take a MK3 over a Porsche any day.

Not true. It's actually the older FSI engine with timing belt and potential cam follower/HPFP issues.

    Oh my God. This thread...

It's actually an older LS1 motor with 4 cylinders removed. They use the extra space for the massive k04 turbo. They also keep a bottle of N20 in one of the extra cylinders for extra HP.

    You know what's funny?

It's only the US that can't disable the ESP. The Canadian models have defeatable ESP.

Guess that's what you get when people can sue anyone for anything all the time.

This. A stronger and more mature version of the EA-113 mostly used in the mkv's.

Why when I was at the dealership and looked at the engine it said TSI?

It's just marketing jargon. "FSI" and "TSI" don't necessarily indicate that there is an ea113 or ea888 under the cover.

It's the same engine in the R as in the Edition 35, as you've already suspected. Just with the boost dialed up a few pounds. That's the only salient difference in the motor department, both are EA 113 2.0T.

No, that's what you get when you buy a Golf you've been duped into believing is a sports car.
A list of mods, all cars ever owned and something cribbed from a book, song and/or movie were all just here. Sorry you missed out on my unique, snowflake-like individuality.

It uses FSI regardless of what the marketing or engine cover says. The engine cover you looked at was the old-style FSI cover with the letters "TSI" on it. If you perform a slightly more thorough investigation you will find a timing belt, the same HPFP, etc.

It's the old BPY motor, the same configuration used in the Audi S3.

Also, ESP cannot be disabled on the Golf R? That takes it off my list officially.
