Since this coming from a fellow Patrick who apparently also owns a VR6, I'll believe it was simply a joke this time, but next time I'm going to need some over-the-top sarcasm to really believe it.

MKIV Jetta Wagon, about 500bhp and 27mpg.

Its powerband is laughable but fun. Especially since 3 of us carpool the 5 miles to work. One day on way home, 3 dudes in a wagon pulling on a spankin new S4.

my old xB was perfect as a DD. rated at 105/108 from the factory, i threw on an exhaust, intake, headers, springs, other useless crap, so it was probably 90-100 hp at the wheels and matching torque. completely enough for highway and daily commuting usage. sure, it would strain a little if you were climbing a really really steep hill or mountain, but that's a rare situation. MPGs were generally awesome at 30+. it could haul EVERYTHING. i basically fit my whole dorm/apt room into it when i moved around. i think 100/100 whp/tq is plenty for a practical DD.

Haha, I'm not quite sure where Alex is from to be completely honest ... We went to OU together so, I second him on the SE Ohio roads being AWESOME.

Haha, yeah, the closer you get to Marietta, the better they get. Pretty much anything in the trangle between Wheeling, Marietta, and Columbus is a safe bet for a fun time.

Anything less than 556 Hp is clearly insufficient.

I'd say 200hp is good enough for a DD. Lower weight is preferable.

But I guess it all depends on how far your commute is...mine is all of 1.5 miles before I'm dropped off. So really, on a nice day my old 5hp motorcycle would be fine on a nice day.

The RS is slow, the only saving grace to that car is how tossable it is. I also like the fact that it's my POS car, I dont care what happens to it and I drive it like that.

I stopped by the VW dealer yesterday, the Golf TDI is a decent looking car. I'd love it if I could put GTI bits into it though. I need to go for a test drive.

That's why I threw a WRX Ej205 in mine ... 220hp makes the car several times more fun.

Correction, if it has MORE than 151 then you are not driving a real 'drivers enthusiast' car.

Wow, spare us a detailed examination of your colon polyps. Just get a doctor to take care of it, and ride a 50cc scooter to prove how you dont have a 'self esteem' issue.

Just because you have a boring drive doesn't mean all of us do.

I have more fun on my daily commute route around a mountain than I did while at an autocross.

Do not envy wearing your crumple zone on your head.

My old DD was 230 hp, my new one is 140 hp. I used to live in fear of blue lights while having fun, and now I don't. The big reduction in cost is just a bonus.
