    1) Does the 2011 have the rear side airbags in the back seat sides, like the Cayenne. I know the 2012 does not but no 2012 vws do.

    2) Why did the 2012 lose auto-hold?

    3) Was anything else changed from 2011 to 2012? (besides the start/stop button, and the mdi in the glove box)

    4) Why is tungsten silver only available on the hybrid?

    5) When you unlock the touareg at night in the front do the fogs and led drls come on like audis? Or is it the headlights like VWs?

    6) Is it rare to get a Hybrid without a hitch, I can barely find any, don't use it, and find it ugly?

    7) The sport with nav (and above) have a color MFI screen and a RNS 850, does the base sport with the RCD 510 have a black and white MFI screen like the A6 with or without nav (color only with nav)?

    8) When you unlock the doors at night using the kessy door sensors, do the lights come on outside the car, or is it only with the use of the key fob pressing unlock that turns on the lights?

    I'll answer a few

    3) These are the only Changes
    4) Because that is all VW released
    5) Front Fog's and LED lights come on
    6) I'm assuming because the hitch is the only option they just brought them all in with the hitch that were not factory ordered. I'm sure it's a lot harder to lose a sale for no hitch then for having a hitch.
    8) At night time with the KISSY the lights do turn on

Probably just to make it exclusive to the Hybrid trim.

Here's what I gather; The 2011 did not offer rear side airbags, as they were an option in europe, and never were an option in the us (although 11 tiguan, cc, passat, golf models had them as a $350 option), and that the RCD510 comes with a black/white MFD screen instead of the color one (with the RNS850) from the Audis, and since it is audi like it makes sense the kessy sensors turn on the lights at night (unlike VWs cheap separate kessy system where you need to press the unlock button on the key to get the lights to turn on), and also the fogs/led drls come on at night when you unlock, instead of the main beams. The hybrid is rare without a hitch but they do exist, and on that note the tungsten silver is to make the hybrid more exclusive. Slight glove box changes for the MDI, the loss of auto hold, and the new start/stop button are the changes for 2012 that I could find, and auto hold was dropped from all 2012s (eos, tiguan, touareg, cc) probably due to it being problematic down the road (helps with estimated warranties payable in the acct dept). Finally, I cannot find out if there is a knee airbag as the schematic from eu shows. I think it is either eu exclusive, or it is unmarked. Can anyone confirm that there is or is not a knee airbag? Since it is like audi, they do offer knee bags on many models, would not seem so far-fetched..

Front knee airbags are not offered in the states- euro only option.
