yeah im definitely looking into suspension just havnt decided what i want yet i want something that i can keep about an inch within stock ride height stiff enough for auto-x and 1200 or less so pss9 coilovers are out of the question any recommendations. btw i have alot of oversteer for a fwd car( my last event coming out of the slalom my back end about took out the cones that marked the finish line until some quick work with the throttle straightened the car up).

My Konis were only $1000 shipped from WRD.com (CarNut84GTI on the forum) Great service!
Those and my RSB were some of the best pennies I spent!

If you're serious about the track, then the best bang for the buck (not to mention highly proven) would have to be Koni Yellows on Ground Control Sleeves+Eibach Springs. If you order the Koni's from GC, you can get the rear shocks with the adjustment knob at the top, so you don't have to drop the rear everytime you want to tweak your setup.

H&r front sway, nuespeed rear sway, b&g rs lines. When i was at about 24" ftg it handled amazingly for an mk4. The rear sway makes it really easy to flick it through turns.![]()

You can pick out your own spring rates, or you can go with the recommendation of an experienced professional to help you choose rates. Should your skill set improve, you can make spring rate changes down the line as the kit uses standard race springs in the front and rear of the car.
Here's my contribution.

The best thing about the GC product line is that it's purpose built. Nothing particularly "special". Their coil-over sleeves allow you to run Koni or Bilstein shocks (i.e. OEM replacement) and give you the ability to fine-tune your ride height and spring rates. They commission Eibach for the matchng springs so it's all top quality. GC can also supply you with custom Koni yellows for the rear that allow you to adjust dampening from the top, another handy track day feature. Because the sleeves are external to the shock, if they ever seize up you don't need to order a new shock.
But because the sleeves don't allow you to slam the car, they remain obscure in the MK4 scene. And one last plus - value! You can build a complete setup for about $1000, but the quality of the components will definitely be better than what you get with a $1000 coilover kit (i.e. Koni yellows are heavier duty than the shocks in Koni coilvers).
Check out the Suspension Tuning forum for some great archived threads!
