Thread: FS: 1989 Jetta--$500 Portland, OR

    Hey, ya'll.

I bit off more than I can chew thinking I could fix this car up. I don't even know where to begin with it. Not even a year later, idle problems came back after cleaning the ISV. I don't have time to be constantly tinkering with it.

So. I'm selling my "polar silver" gold Jetta. It is an automatic with 179,000 miles-the odometer died in December. Due to stupidity, it now has some side damage. See pics. Made in Germany, in Feb of 1989. It seems to use a lot of parts from 88, though...I will take pics of the motor and post later. This is a different engine than what the 89 is supposed to have, I think...

I'm asking for $500. It is located in downtown Vancouver, WA (Portland, OR metro). Current tags, and still starts up every day.

Anybody need a new project needing TLC? This is your chance.

Let me know what else you need to see/any questions you may have.

    Thanks!

I am a bit concerned that it might not be the same model engine... Where do you think it came from do you have a vin or the engine serial number?
    I make sense to me

I have no idea. I've needed some basic parts for it (belts, air filters, distributor and rotors, etc). I know that my coworker thought it would have a different engine, and that the filters needed the type the 88 used, not the 89. I'm not as well-versed in cars as I should be, and changing belts, and doing oil changes really were my limits.
