Thread: 08 Touareg 2 front Rotors

  1. 05-09-2012 02:56 PM #1
    08 Touareg 2, V6. 30.4k miles

I did go read the "brakes" section of FAQ's and found the specs. However i'm a mechanical idiot and would like to make sure I understand in layman (read idiot) terms.

The place i'm buying my rotors insists that the front rotors are different sizes left and right. 350 and 330 respectively.

I asked the guy helping me to confirm it and he got someone else to tell me they are different because of the venting system.

A definitive answer would be much appreciated.

Also, is there a way for me to check whether or not i actually need new rotors once my friend (Who knows cars) gets it up on a lift?

    Thank you for your help.

The rotors are vented, but they are certainly not different sizes from left to right. They may be different part numbers, but not different sizes. I would be very leery of a company telling me that. Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that 330mm are on all but the V10 Touaregs.

You may consider calling your VW parts department and confirming what is on your vehicle, just give them the VIN number and they can look it up.

Thanks guys. Didn't sound right to me. I went to this place because someone told me they were experts and I wouldn't need to return to them 3 times b/c they gave me the wrong parts.

I guess that was a waste.

They're ARE different, the rotors are right and left specific. Please do not just get two of the same side.

But they aren't different sizes and that was his primary question.
