Not really. Normally, just the CATs won't make it run rough - there are probably other issues. Get it scanned for codes.
Now, replacing the CATs - your options are expensive (and probably not so good), very expensive, and insanely expensive. You can weld in generic converters; not too bad but you may still get a check engine light. Then you can put in direct fit converters; they cost a good bit more. Finally, the official fix is to replace the whole exhaust sections containing the CATs - somewhere around $3000.

Need a little insight

I am currently looking at a 02 passat v6 4motion, the only thing it needs is its catalyst converters changed. At least thats what the guy is telling me, makes it run really rough. Are there any cheap solutions to them or no?

Yeah... the cats will throw codes, but there's gotta be some other stuff happening to cause it to noticeably run rough....
Being a 4mo owner, I can attest that there WILL be other stuff wrong....
