drive the original turbo carrera.
it's absolutely dangerous how much lag there is, then at 3,000 everything changes.

A friend of mine has one of these and I've driven it several times, honestly had no idea it was that fast. I'll make a mental note to floor it more next time I'm in the driver's seat.
He bought his circa 2001 with mileage in the 40K range. He's driven it probably 30K more since and it's still very pristine. While fun in its own way, I'm always struck by how primitive it feels compared to more modern stuff, but I can see why people lust after them. BTW, he does all his own work on it and it's been very reliable.

Very nice! I too still have this article. The Turbo 3.6 is still my favorite Porsche.

When this car came out, my family was friends with race car driver and entrepreneur, Jochen Rohr. Herr Rohr reportedly had the first or one of the first, Speed Yellow 3.6T 964's. I saw the car and wow. The car was ahead of it's time. 0-60 in 4 secs...in 1993!

I don't think this is a 3.6 but it shows how difficult these cars are to drive fast in stock form.

My favorite Porsche of all time. I remember reading about it in Sports Car International - same introduction in southern France, SCi had a maroon car. Such a gorgeous car!

Porsche's have "nightmareish ergonomics?
I don't recall hearing/reading about ergonomics being an issue.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.

I've a real emotional soft spot for the driving of these doctor killers....
