  1. 05-09-2012 05:05 PM #1
pretty easy question i did a search and didnt really find anything, so i was wondering which headlight has the best lighting/quality. I had laser eye surgery and my night vision isnt the same as to what it used to be
I have these , they seem to be okay but never really experianced anything better haha

Pretty much the general consensus on here is a big fat "No!" (and I'd have to agree) to those type of lights. You'd be better off with some E-Codes or OEM Bi-Xenons, but those require a bit more than plug n play.

For about the same price you can get these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-GTI-LOOK...sories&vxp=mtr Much better looking, and have OEM look. Not OEM quality however, but if you don't care about cut-off and whatnot, these are alright. Plus, you can get an HID kit for these, but remember, the quality isn't the same as OEM. Still better than spending upwards of $1k for Bi-Xenons.

Oh yeah, for got to say that I'll probably be ordering the ones posted above. Mainly because the previous owner dicked around with stock halogen high beams, and so the bulbs aren't really being held in place.

And also broke college student that doesn't want to shell out a grand for OEM.

    Anyways, just my 2 cents.

Those are better than what I posted. I only posted the DEPO ones because they were in the same price range as what you posted The reviews people have given of them are great, and Ed is a nice fellow. They're one of the only plug n play xenons for our cars. The only thing they need is some slight VAG-COM coding, and adjustment.

I think Ed gets his supply from here, but I'm not sure: http://pgperformance.com/vw-parts/go...ng/headlights/ for $600.

I would but those for myself, but again, broke college student. Still a better deal than OEM Bi-Xenons

Another option, and one that I'd go for, would be to get the aftermarket halogen projector-beam headlights made by Hella; available on the aftermarket in Europe. See here:

    http://www.ecstuning.com/Volkswagen-...lights/ES6476/

    or

    http://www.tmtuning.com/HOME/catalog...t_product=1707

They're not HID/xenon, but you know the Hella quality is going to be excellent. I'd expect the beam pattern to be comparable to the bi-xenons on low beam (which means very good indeed), but of course not as bright. The inner reflectors would be the high beams.

    Plug-and-play.

I'm strongly considering getting a set for my wife's 2.5 Jetta, since her night vision isn't that good either. I'm just hoping someone who has these will post up a photo of the beam pattern.

Regarding the other lights, I get suspicious when vendors don't list a manufacturer (except who the manufacturer isn't), and use terms like "H7 bi-xenon."

Yes Sir, please. And not the typical shot of how they look when looking at the front of the car.

What we need (well, what I need in any case) is a good shot of the beam pattern projected against a garage or smooth wall, from about 25 ft away. After you aim them correctly.

*edit* Oops... I just clicked on your link, and realized you'd ordered the stock European reflector headlights... not the Hella halogen projectors.

But you know, I'd still be curious to see how the beam pattern looks with your new lights. The European ECE beam pattern, even with the halogen reflectors, is supposed to have a sharper cut-off than the VOL/DOT North American lights...
