I have a basic S model Tig and I want to upgrade the stock radio to a Nav system. I have talked to 2 different dealers now and they both have told me different things. Dealer #1 told me it will be just a plug and play and I will have to add a GPS antenna. Dealer #2 told me I have to change all of my wiring and even after changing everything out it might still not work but also said if I install a RNS-315 all I will need is a GPS antenna. Has anyone installed an Rns-510 in a S model and is it hard to do or something I can do over a weekend?

I installed an RNS-510 in my 2012 TIg S...You need to install the GPS antenna, the 510 is a simple plug and play ( well it does take some time if u r not handy). The antenna sits under the dash almost on top of the unit...There is lots of documentation online...Also installed the Blue Tooth module, (this takes time as u need to fish the mic) everything works like a charm...Got my unit from Peter at Extreme Networks, highly recommend him, he was VERY helpful during the install...

forgot to mention, there is a bit of vagcom programming required if u want it to interface with the multi function display...

It'll work fine. You need a sirius antenna, gps antenna, and possibly an antenna adapter. I think the S model radio only has one antenna connection. The RNS-510 and 315 have two. There's a Y shaped adapter that you can get for about $15 shipped online. Disconnect the compass module in the headliner, install the stereo and antennas inside the dash, use VCDS to code it. I have an RNS-315 I'll be listing for sale tomorrow after I get the code. I'll have an RNS-510 this week also.![]()
