Perhaps discussion could be had for alternative locations and times? It would be great to do a weekly BBQ or dinner gtg, IMO. I realize some of you guys have families and such, so a BBQ or dinner would be better than meeting up in a parking lot. Back in WA, we used to do more dubber gtgs at homes vs parking lots for that reason, in addition to getting together to help each other with modifications while having a couple brews. It's just a more inviting social situation for both enthusiasts and their families. Thoughts?

wow really good turnout tonight, and street culture was pretty good as well!

yeah it was.

bad news for me though. after leaving, the engine wanted to overheat any time i'd put any load on it for any duration. it was fine driving around town, but i wasn't on the autobahn for more than a couple minutes and it overheated.

which tells me the plastic impeller, that's pressed onto the water pump shaft and circulates coolant through the motor, let go from the shaft. which is completely common with the stock water pump due to it's design. *sigh*

good think i have spares. so i guess i'll be doing the timing belt, serpentine belt and water pump tomorrow. yay me. it's going to be a fun day. especially the part where i get to fish the impeller out of the block. hopefully, it didn't break apart like they sometimes do.

of course this all depends on if i can drag myself out of bed at a decent hour. lol

all in all it was a great turn out tonight.

i know of a dude wanting to come out next friday with his APR MkV. how hard would it be for EVERYONE to actually show up? there was only 3 dubs. i KNOW we can do better than that. bring your family, bring some food and drink (cuz the stand was retarded) and some folding chairs, and lets do this proper next week! Sound good? get back at me.

Friday? I arrived at around 1900. Met Boost and another dude, then ran home to grab some tools real quick. Got back to Aldi around 1945. We were all there for a bit, because I decided to investigate a boost leak; taking my bumper off in the process. lol Shame you missed us. And it sounds like you JUST missed us.

not sure if i'll be rolling this week in the gti. gti still needs the water pump changed out and i honestly don't know when i'll have time to do it. monday was shot and tuesday is going to be shot as well. hoping wednesday will be clear, so i can get it done. it's a 6-8hr job for a n00b, i'm told.

regardless wether my car rolls, i'll still be there this friday. i've got a friend with a built APR MkV who wants to head out with us. think we could ALL make it for once? lol

Just so you all know, as soon as I get away from work on Thursday, my ambition is to get the GTI into a bay at the auto shop and get the water pump/timing belt done. Biggest determining factor will be what time I get off work, because it's a 4hr job (+/_ 1hr) to complete.
