Thread: In dire need of help in Vegas

  1. 05-09-2012 09:29 PM #1
I need help! We are in a road trip to Vegas. Car misfire/lost power for a second while driving in freeway and then back to normal next 150 miles doing 70 - 85. When we got near hotel started again. While in parking lot, rpm won't pass 4000. Replaced spark plugs and air filter before the trip. Can use any advise or recommend a shop around here. Thanks!

you may have a bad ignition coil. They need to be removed to get to each spark plug. best case one not seated or connection issue...

you need a vagcom to check the fault codes. but it might be time for new ignition coils.
did you get a blinking check engine light while the "fun stuff" was going on?

sorry, no idea where to go in Vegas, but im sure someone here will know..
Audi is the girl who was really cute in high school, but now puts on way too much makeup in order to try and hang out with the hot girls.

These guys can help you out for sure! They are the best independent shop in the Valley. Reasonable prices and super nice guys. They are former dealer techs that opened their own shop.

I had something similar after I replaced the spark plugs. One of the coil packs was not seated right. I reset them all. Same thing happen 2 weeks later - I reset them again. It's been good ever since for a year now.

Glad you got the coil pack issue taken care of- but i think the intake manifold runner code is a different problem. It was an Audi warranty extension item, I believe...

Intake runner code or not, this sounds like a bad coil pack. Easy $40 fix.

Wasn't able to sleep last so did more research. All pointed to cam follower, since my extended my expired last march, I was banking on this and hope to be covered by the extended warranty on the cam follower. Dropped it off Desert Audi and to my luck, the cam follower was intact. Rub-ISH is on the money, it was the fuel pump module in the fuel tank. Luckily they found part for me and be able to pick up car this afternoon, no extended stay in the sin city.
Rub-ISH, called Your guys at C.A.R.S. and your right those guys are excellent!
FYI: There another silent recall in connection with the cam follower, kindly check with your service advisers.
