I still don't like how a x.99 = x-second car. Just seems like a dick swinging contest when you say stuff like "Oh, I've got a 12 second car. It ran a 12.95."

Also, that Mustang officially needs a parachute now.

    INB4 yeah but is 8.99 really 8?

If it does it consistently then I don't see why it wouldn't be considered an X-sec car. This video, which was obviously edited, showed it getting faster which is expected during testing. If it ran an 8.9x a half dozen times then yeah, its an 8 sec car.

    Could have a manual too...

    8 second 6 speed supra

Except it would need aloooot more power to trap 170+ like the supra.

Amazing how much less power is needed with a drag/auto tranny and perfect launches.

I know there are manual cars that are faster, but like you said it takes a lot less for an auto tranny to pull the same numbers

Don't really classify 8.99 as a 8 sec car... Reaction time decides whether 8.99 or 9.00

Uh, no. Reaction time is the time it takes from when the tree goes green until the car moves . I could take this exact car, sit for 5 minutes at the line after the tree went green and still rack off an 8.99.
A list of mods, all cars ever owned and something cribbed from a book, song and/or movie were all just here. Sorry you missed out on my unique, snowflake-like individuality.

****ing hell that thing goes fast.

that being said, I wish they were REQUIRED to tell the truth TWICE when asked and lie ONCE... and the judges need to be more specific with their questions... though I'm sure they'd all ask "how much nitrous" and "How many stages" and "what rear end" or "what width rear tires" and "how much does it weigh"

that would make it a bit more entertaining. Half the guys come in there and say "just a cam"

If he ran an 8.50 would it be an 8-second car? Everyone knows that drag racers round down, always. Besides, it sounds a lot better than saying that it's an 8-ex-ex second car.
Lately I have been testing "tip-in events". Just the tip-in. Just to see how it feels. Response time is typically on the order of 2-3 seconds. Sometimes the injection timing is a little off...

I would very much enjoy seeing you try to pilot the Mustang in the OP down the track for a 10 second pass without winding up in the wall.

Some people don't understand how fast an 8 or even 9 second car is. There is a lot more suspension, chassis, and drive train tuning than you realize. Its not like you can take a bone stock mustang, bolt on some parts and run 8's all day.

And no it does not take a lot of money to bracket race, just a dialed in car and some skill/practice. It only takes a lot of money to run heads up classes or if you want to go really fast.

    EDIT: I LOVE that track

There was a guy at one of our local tracks back in high school who bracket raced an automatic Ford Fiesta.
He won every weekend. I think the most his time varied was .02, sure they were all almost 30 seconds but still.
