Let me rephrase that; I WENT TO an ADRL event last weekend.

The cars there (in the unlimited class anyhow) were along the lines of 15L displacement, forced induction + nitrous. 3500+ hp in some cases and looked like this:

Standing near those cars whizzing by at 200+ MPH skewed my perspective of fast quite badly. 8 second street cars now look...eh quick I guess These ^ things seriously take off like they've been shot out of a cannon.

They were running <4 second 1/8th miles @ >200 MPH. Assuming they don't accelerate at all after doing 1/8th mile (which I find unlikely ) they would be doing 6 second 1/4 miles. They are a whole different level of fast.

I really want to see NHRA top fuel now

Why is it okay to round down .99 seconds but not to round up .01 seconds?

    You guys are funny.
Because it is a huge accomplishment. Plain and simple. The math it takes to go 8.99 is greater than the math of rounding.
