    Hello!

For some reason my rear glass has cracked.
I called up our insurance for a OEM replacement.

I remember reading that there were different types of glass.
Thus if someone could help me figure out the differences (and what I should get) before I get a replacement, that would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Alan,

You might want inspect the condition of the conduit near the left side of the truck lid/base of glass. That is what typically causes damage to the glass other than impact damage. When the cable is frayed or damaged, it gets caught between the lid and the glass as it is closed, cracking the glass.

More information regarding the type of rear glass can be found here:

Somewhere in the forum you'll find information on changes in windshield glass, but I'm not aware of changes to the rear glass.

    Thanks a bunch guys!

I just read the one thread dlouie, and it was very helpful.
So apparently there are different types of glass used by the Phaeton (IR and not-IR (blue and greed)).

And I appreciate the offer darkostoj, I'll take a look at what my insurance says, as they are paying for the replacement.

Hopefully I get it replaced before the crack gets larger.

    Thanks again!

    Alan
