Touareg Hybrids are pretty nice, and the warm fuzzies I felt while driving the hybrid was actually the fingers of all of the German tax payers trying to reach into my wallet to get their money back. (Brendan@bwalkauto)

I definitely don't have one car. There are a few that if I could own all of them and nothing else, I'd be pretty satisfied with my automotive ownership history.

if I have to pick one car I'd want that I'd want to pass down to my son (as my dad is passing his 66 Tiger down to me), a 964 911 C2 or a 2nd/3rd/4th gen Viper Coupe.

I also want to own and race a separate Tiger in vintage races, done up to the rule limit for 1965 SCCA season B/prod and beat up on Corvettes and Shelby Mustangs.

So it's really two. If I were presented with the 911 and Viper and they both cost exactly the same, I would probably go with the 911.

An air cooled beetle. Totally reachable goal! I've wanted one since I was 16. There was one for sale behind my high school for almost the entire 4 years I was there. It was way over priced. I have lusted after that car for 15 years. Sigh.

I've been lucky to have most of the cheap cars I "need" to own, from air cooled Beetles to Porsche 911s. What's on my list now, in the "I will own one" category is another relatively cheap rare car, the jaguar XJ6C/XJ12C. I just love the classic Jagness of it...

I love cars, but the problem is they are like schroedinger's hobby. They're always in a quantum superstate of being both awesome and a huge waste of time and money... until observation momentarily forces them into one state or another.

Hmm... Realistic car I WILL buy...

NSX would be the pinnacle, even an imported NSX-R

But I'm such a lover of automobiles I don't know if I'll ever keep my answer the same week to week...
So many different reasons to want so many different cars.

Supercharged S2000, Impreza WRX (almost any gen), R32T, Mustang GT, M3, S4, 350Z, 911 Turbo, V70R, S60R, MKI GTI Hardtop... the list goes on

      Easy.

Preferably a V8 one, but I wouldn't say no to the turbo one either.

Hell, send me one without a motor and I'll drop something into it.

      Or the next gen.

I need to own a Mopar vehicle with a big engine, rwd, manual transmission, and enough torque to shred asphalt: Viper, Challenger SRT, or Ram.

      Porsche anything (Cayennes don't count)

However, I've really been jonesing for a Vette in recent years. May be a more realistic move to make.
Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?

More than a Bentley or a Ferrari or a Porsche or absolutely any other car in the world, I want a Cabriolet...but I'd put a VR6 in it. Even owning a (eventually, after much work put into it) minty G60 Corrado, a 2011 GTI, and almost buying a last-gen M5, my '89 Cabriolet (all stock, my first car) remains my favorite car I have ever driven or owned.

But if I never get to own that VR Cabby, you know, it'll be okay. I consider getting another Cabby every once in a while, but I know that no matter how awesome it is, it'll never be quite as wonderful as that awful 8-valve was.

(thanks for changing my life, cabby. i miss you.)
