Plenty to work on
So reality is this... I need... ok scratch that, desperately WANT a project car. I just can't handle the nice weather breaking and not having myself something to tinker on, pull out on the weekends, etc.
I'm not sure what I should be considering or looking for. I think I have a few guidelines that I think are reasonable, just not sure what to do. I've been looking at everything from a 69' Ford Falcon to LS1 Camaro's to MK1's & MK2's. However I feel like I'm missing ton's of options...
I want something that I can slowly modify to fit my needs and desires. Something that's fun to drive, can do the occasional track day/auto-x, but still be comfortable to go for a cruise and turn some heads. I also enjoy visiting the drag strip on occasion. I know, auto-x/track vs drag are 2 different directions, but I want a happy medium.
My budget is 5k and past that I honestly don't have any limitations beside needing to be able to fit in it comfortably. (6'4")
While on the subject of DSMs... I have thought about buying one for a rallycross/winter beater at some point in the future. Is the crankwalk issue only limited to the 2nd gen cars, or do the early ones have problems too? I realize an impreza is ideal for this purpose, but it seems too obvious and I'd like to go with something different.
