Sadly with DSG. They'll have it for 20,000 miles.

Clarification: VW provided the Beetle to Inside Line. They didn't buy it.

Hopefully for VW this goes well and they provided a car without all the issues...lol

So far things are going well. They've praised the larger trunk (compared to the NEW Beetle), the styling, and most recently, the steering wheel:

    From their May 12th entry:

"But the steering is far more Jetta than GTI, with that numb spot on center that transitions into an elastic feel as you turn in. This significantly contributes to the Beetle feeling less sporting whether you're simply puttering along to work or actually trying to drive with some vigor. That eager nature of the GTI just isn't present with Der Beetle; that little shot of automotive caffeine that makes even the most mundane commute just a little exciting. Track numbers on a short-term Beetle showed a huge difference between the two cars as well."

It sounds like the Turbo B12 has more understeer than the GTI.

Does anyone know if the Turbo B12's steering rack is the same as the GTI?

No idea, but the Lego-like nature of modern VWs leads me to believe it would.

    Which brings me to this:
Someone/us needs to document all the differences (both in parts and software) between the GTI and the Turbo Beetle. I could see many people swapping in GTI bits to replicate the performance. Some changes may be as simple as hooking up a VAG-com.

Can you defeat ESP/ TSC on the Beetle Turbo? On my 2.5L I cannot, but AWE has a fix for that.

    Nope. What's AWE's fix?

Also am I the only one that find it annoying that a lot of the posts/updates go something like:
"is it a Golf, a Jetta, a GTI?? A stylish Golf?" the Beetle was its own car since before Golfs and GTIs were around, just kind of ironic.

Not really since the Beetle's platform has been in design since the MKV and the MKVI...

Ya, just referring to bugs in general. Guess I see this car as being "back" rather than being an introductory model. Air cooled guys should relate.
