I would take it in especially if the fan is constantly running. The good thing about a deer hit is it doesn't go against you on your insurance.

So I hit a deer this past weekend. There appeared to be little damage. Small dent on top of hood(il post pic) but looking under the hood it appears that there is a bunch of plastic and such broken behind the grill. I didn't drive the car all week until yesterday because I was staying with a friend. But yesterday when I turned it on the tire light was flashing and the ext temp gauge isn't showing anything. But te biggest problem is that the check engine light is on. Also, the fan that usually is only on with the ac is now on all the time. With all air off, ac off, and even heat. Am I okay to keep driving it or should I take it in immediately? Thanks.

Doesn't go against me but still have to pay a 500$ deductible!

Take it in. Your're deductible may be cheaper for animal hit. My collision is $500 but my comprehensive is $250 and that's what it should fall under. A dog ran up under the front end of our MKIV and out of about a grand we paid only 250---Mike

My dad hit a dog last week in his month old chevy cruz. Insurance covered 100% and no deductible. it was unavoidable and as long as its not a "collision" with another vehicle.... it falls under another category. Just call your insurance and ask. You can always submit a claim and never choose to follow through with it. Someone hit me last summer and left the scene, i called my insurance and started a claim. Found out my deductible was $1,000. Told the insurance company to put it on hold. And then i never followed through with it. Never hurt my policy or charged me $1k, fixed it myself.
