I'd say 10k miles is pretty good for your first rattle. Congrats on the newborn. Your car will be giving birth to some more.

I have a 2010 GTI with 10,000 miles. Recently a rattling noise started coming from the rear of the car. It sounded like it might have been the muffler or the spare, I checked and it was nothing obvious. I took it to the dealer and they said the rear seat wasn't latched. They are FOS!!!! It's a little better, but not gone. That makes me think they know what it is, maybe tightened something, but didn't fix it. I bet if it wasn't under warranty they would have found and fixed the problem!
Has anyone else had a similar rattling problem? What was the cause and how was it fixed? Thanks.
(BTW the dealer is Leith VW on Capital Blvd. in Raleigh NC)

Yeah I had a rear rattle on m 2012 Golf. Was happening over bumps. It was annoying - I thought it might be the seat, might be under the car, etc. Had my wife drive while I listened carefully. Turned out to be the center rear armrest / pass through. It was actually something in the armrest itself. As a test, I removed the armrest from the car (two torx bolts). Rattle gone. Took it to the dealer. They replaced the armrest (warranty) and its gone now. Anyhow - just something you might look at. Good luck.
