My dad recently picked up one of the new turbocharged Optimas. It's a really nice car and he's definitely proud of it. He also makes an effort to park it in safe places at the end of the lot. Twice now, he's come out to find a shopping cart against it, both times leaving small dents. We also aren't talking about wind in these cases. One lot had about 20-25 yards between the end of the mass of cars and his. There are always going to be scummy people who perceive your parking far away as an act of superiority and will make an effort to show their disdain, in evidently the most spineless of ways. People have lost a lot of respect for other peoples' possessions.

But then you get pissy driving down the road and don't get a "VW Nod" in return when you nod at them, right?

No way Jose. I don't nod at random people just because they drive a VW.

I haaate that. I had people do it to my rat rod ALLL the time, I had to explain to these people that the more sheet metal I have to fix the more time I will spend when I do restore the car. No one offered insurance info, nor would I have bothered with a claim.

With my nicer cars, I have been pretty blatant...

"Excuse me, does my car look like a good place to rest your ****ing door?"

I even took a cell phone pic of someone doing it at the grocery store before telling them they were a jerk... Closed their door and denied it... offered to show them the pic. Crazy Canadian people.

you guys realize that in EVERY other country these dings are considered part of life.
Its a car, a simple door ding is life. If you dont want them, DONT DRIVE and park like a jack ass taking up two spots, or on the opposite side of the empty lot and walking a mile to the door.

I hate when people park nice cars in tight spots then get all anal that a door was opened into them....get over it.
