We all know there has been a lot of hype about this car. Having owned a MK3 Supra I find peoples posts on the new FRS Hilarious! First and foremost. Hate to break it to ya, but guess what. Brand spanking new car models don't have huge aftermarket support. Secondly to turbo a N/A engine requires tons of work. Even the STI version is going to be 250 N/A. Not to mention whether or not the Tranny or Engine Internals can take it.(Doubtful) So by all means I encourage all you fan boys to spend 25k on a new car to find out you need a another 10k-15K to keep up with a chipped GTI. Lol
As for handling just because it's rwd doesn't mean its a sports car. The only reason I could see somebody buying one is strictly cosmetic.. and that's when it hit me! The FRS is not a supra, nor a miata...don't be fooled. It's just another Celica! They both just look fast.. lol If you want a real animal get a M1. I rest my case

It was never supposed to be the new Supra. It was supposed to be a throw back to the Corolla AE86 and Celica. Back in the 1990's the Supra cost around $50,000 which would be $75,000 in todays money. How does a $25,000= $75,000. A better comparison would be the Lexus ISF.

I think you're arguing a point no one here is making. This is supposed to be an AE86 successor, or if nothing else, an early 80's celica replacement. If it were Nissan, think 240SX, not 300ZX.

You know...after reading through all the pages of hype/trolling/criticism for the BRZ, I don't think I've heard it compared to the Celica.
If I were in the market for a new car, i'd seriously consider the BRZ even if it was slower than a FWD equivalent. Unfortunately, it should really start at 22k and not 25k.

Celica?
Celica went FWD 22 years ago, sharing a platform with the Camry, before losing it's way.
If you're looking for an ersatz Celica, look towards the tC.
I like the FRS, though. 151FTW.![]()
There are no old Porsches - just new owners.

To me, its the new Pagani Zonda replacement. As i will never own one.

the Celica was wrong-wheel drive for a long time.

It has been many years since I have been into Hondas, so I could be missing a lot of parts they need, but do you want to explain how this is anywhere close to "keeping up with a chipped GTI", or anywhere close to 10-15k?

GTI's modability isn't really special...at all...
can also guarantee they won't be waiting an eternity like us for full aftermarket fueling upgrades (pls don't bother listing s3 rs4 injectors as an option for the fsi guys).

It's not even that good looking. It's like a slightly less feminine looking miata for the latent homosexual to feel comfortable purchasing.

It seems like OP has really foiled toyota's hidden agenda to brainwash people into thinking it's really the "new Supra!" Thank you, without this thread i fear i would have fallen for it.
