Hello everyone. I am taking delivery of a 2012 Deep Black Metallic Jetta GLI 6 speed manual tomorrow morning. This will be my first VW and turbo. I come from the Honda world and am trading my 2008 Fit. I decided it was time to get something with some low end grunt...looking forward to reading all about VWs and especially turbo versions.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone. I picked up the car around 11:00 AM. Brought it home and did my first mod. Pinstripe delete. Why do dealerships insist on putting pinstripes on all their new cars and charging $100.00 extra? Drove it around for a few miles and showed it to my buddy who has a 2010 GTI. There are quite a few common parts shared between the models in the interior. I washed it and started waxing some of the panels. Will probably do some more tonight. Planning on putting the rear lip spoiler on it and also the Monster floor mats. Does anyone know if you can upgrade the existing radio to include navigation? I'll search around...that would be sweet if you could. Trying to keep it under 4 grand for the first 1K miles. It's hard to do...

OK, so I ordered an OEM VW rear lip spoiler today from keffervwparts.com. How hard is it to install these? I tried searching for a thread on installation, but couldn't find anything. Is it as simple as cleaning the paint with alcohol, applying some adhesive promoter and sticking it on?

I ordered the same. It comes with detailed instructions so you have nothing much to worry about. My problem is it didn't come with adhesive.

Well, I got the spoiler installed. If I had to do it again, I would have paid someone to install it.





Also got some GLI Monster Mats. Nice and comfy. Easier to keep clean as well.

my car has a twin! cept you've 1 up'd with the spoiler. still have to get it done. how much did it run you? through dealer?

yeah i would like to know the same on the spoiler. my dealer didnt even offer me a spoiler lip or any extras expect the warranties.

Thanks! No extreme plans to mod it. Want to get APR Stage 1 flash for the ECU when it goes on sale. I did install the European Short Shift kit the first week I got it. Will probably tint the windows soon too.

Spoiler was like $255 from keffervwparts.com. Does not include adhesive. Unless you are an experienced body person, I would not attempt this mod on your own. It was not an easy install and I'm not thrilled with how it came out.

I like the seats, but I have never owned leather so it's hard for me to compare. They look very well constructed and are comfortable on long trips. (drove it on a 1K+ mile trip when I first got it) I like the fact that you could get a base GLI for around 24K without a sunroof, 18" wheels and the full vinyl interior. I don't need any of those things and I can put the money towards performance related modifications instead.
