Well... not exactly an economy car of the same class.
People bought $10k Neons as disposable cars.
I thought VWs were "premium" back then?
And even saying that- I see as many MK4 VW Jettas/Golfs as I see 1st gen Noens.
MK3 Jetta/Golfs? Almost never save for one or two local ones I see every once in a while.
MK2? I don't even remember the last time I saw one.
But I did see a Plymouth Horizon today.![]()

I saw a late 90's (C5) Audi A6 4.2 the other day and it might as well have been a farking Unicorn.

I spend a lot of time in junkyards, stocked mainly with "fresh kills" so to speak, meaning they were on the road a month or so before they ended up there. It's interesting to see cars going from abundant to almost gone within 6 months to a year, and then almost nonexistent in another 6 months. One day they're everywhere, the next day you can't find one if you need one.
In a large u-pull-it yard, you'd be lucky to see only one Tempo, Aerostar, '91 and older Civic (usually 4 different colors and trashed), beat Integra, Shadow/Sundance, '91-94 Explorer, Probe, '89-97 T-Bird/Cougar, boxy Caprice/Crown Vic/Grand Marquis, or early FWD LeSabre/Olds 88 at any given time.
K-cars, '86-91 Taurus, pre-90 Accord, pre-91 Caravans, Mk2 VWs, '90-94 Legacy, fox-body Mustangs, 3rd gen f-body, '80-92 RWD Cadillacs, and '89 and older Town Cars may produce a few examples in a year.
Even '96 and older Escorts, '92-95 Taurus, boxy Caravans, Ciera/Century, early Blazer/S10, '95-98 Windstars (good riddance!), CB7 Accords, '93-97 Corolla/Prizm, pre-95 Cavalier and Sunbird, '93 and older Deville and Fleetwood, early Saturns, and mk3 VWs are becoming scarce. Almost all of the above cars were all over the roads about 2 years ago.

One I just saw today:
I cannot remember the last time I saw one. I guess it suffered the same fate that every other 90s economobile.

E30's. Most in the midwest have rusted away or are to far neglected. Seems every one I see has an enthusiast behind the wheel because I usually get the wave or nod.

Intrepids and LH Cars in general. The 2.7L was sure a loser of an engine.
I had forgotten about the Diamante! Does anyone remember the '04 with its weird "nose job"?
On the other hand, I had thought the Audi 80/90 had completely disappeared, yet they seem to be coming back in my area in the past few weeks. Recently there were some people on TCL asking about them - a weird coincidence?

I see one of these every now and then, more Corrados tho around my area. There is a guy who has an army green painted Scirocco that lives right by my work so its a more common thing to see now haha. Mk1s and Mk2s are more scarce. Id like to see more Audi Coupe Quattros out on the road. Not something you see often.

Havent seen a Mazda Navajo in years, and while they wern't nearly as common as Explorer's they were at least as common as say a Trooper or Pathfinder.
1st & 2nd gen Dodge Intrepids seemed to have vanished. They were extremely popular and I still see tons of Tuaruses, Buick Century and even the "LHS" version of the LH cars but have not seen any Eagle Vison's, Intrepid or the Concordes in ages.
VW Eurovan, I know these were not hot sellers but I miss seeing them. The only van I would have owned if they still made them. Oddly enough Vanagons are still everywhere.
