Thread: coolant after t_belt

  1. 05-12-2012 07:42 PM #1
Hey all, just had the tbelt done, crank seal, etc. I specifically told my mechanic pentofrost for coolant. However,i am full with green coolant now. Doesn't look like anything was mixed between blue and green. Just wondering if you guys would recommend flushing and throwing the pentofrost back in? Not sure if it's ok if they were not mixed?

Did the mechanic charge you for Pentosin? My first thought is to take it back to him and ask him to do it as requested (without paying extra of course).

I seem to read that it is best to run the factory coolant. With that said when I first got my car I swapped in a new thermostat to fix some heating cooling issues. I don't remember if I knew better or not, if I didn't have time to find the coolant, or if I wanted to spend the money on the factory coolant, but I put in the yellow universal coolant. I keep an eye on it and haven't noticed any issues in the last year and a half since I did the fill. If/when I get the engine out to rebuild the head I plan on switching to Pentosin if not sooner.
