SO i just bought my GF a 2002 jetta and it has the double din monsoon radio. the cd and tape part of it works fine and sounds good, but the radio part of it (AM/FM) is not working, it is just static. I pulled the radio and the antenna wire is plugged in well, and it has a mast. It just wont get any reception whatsoever.

    What could be the problem?

I would just throw in an aftermarket radio but i hate having to put the stock one in every time for an inspection, or trying to figure out a thrown code. Plus this one has the multifunction steering wheel controls and my gf really likes them and doesn't want to loose them.

    Thanks for the help!

Have you checked the gasket around the antenna base? They crack pretty easily and can let water in that can corrode the antenna's internals.

You need to drop the headliner to access the bolt that secures it to the underside of the roof.
