Thread: Pro Flex questions

  1. 05-13-2012 06:51 PM #1
    Hi all.

Recently scored a ProFlex 855 for a great price (free). Coworker is moving and gave it to me for hauling stuff for him. Was just curious if you guys/gals had any input as to what I should do with it.

    Bike in question:

The cushions for the suspension are shot:

In fact the rear one melted clean off:

    Remnants:

Besides the toasted cushions, the bike functions properly. Searching around I've seen there are cartridge replacements which are pretty spendy, and I really don't think I want to toss that much dough into this thing.

    Any ideas?

    a) head over to a Vintage MTB forum and try to sell it (probably won't get too much) or just pay it forward to someone who WILL spend the $$$ to restore it to it's original glory

    b) buy another old-school frame that is rigid or at least has everything intact and swap all those functioning parts over

find some elastomer manufacturer and see if it's cheap enough to have some bumpers cut out to fit.

My wife had a pro flex attack, the elasomers did the same thing. I used bump stops from some old mk4 suspension, worked perfect.

Build your car for yourself, not what an internet forum tells you.

    Where is this bike?

Do you have any pictures of the drive side?
