i suppose it's time to make my own little thread. didn't really want to start one until i had something worth posting. i am not going to call it a build thread, since i haven't actually built anything (that may change, who knows). let's be honest, i just want to whore the r a bit
2012 Candy White Golf R base. i really didn't want a sunroof. i would have liked to have the upgraded stereo. i was undecided on kessy. i took delivery 2/1/2012. got the text that the car showed up on my birthday

first day with the new R, and sadly, the last with my mkv. i really liked that car. but the R came at a good time. i hit a deer on the way home from MSG on new years day. after getting the car from the body shop. it just wasn't the same.
and a picture from the first day out:
the car spent a lot of time in the garage the first month. roads still have salt on them, and i was working on getting my first "mod" set up.
first thing i did was wrap the front end with a custom cut clear bra. bumper, entire hood, fenders, pillars and a few other spots.
the next mod was well worth the wait. i questioned spending that kind of money on a cosmetic mod, until i saw them installed.
oem euro LED tails
we took a number of drives through hocking hills. i was really impressed with the car in stock form. the stock suspension was good, but coming from a mkv with pss10s, i really wanted a bit more. the stock dunlops obviously did not help matters.
one of the pics. my buddy's TT and another buddy's bmw 1000rr.
by this time i had sold the pss10s off the mkv. bilstein revalved them for the mkvi, and had higher spring rates. the only problem, the correct part number was very hard to find. most places were on back order through august and sowo was approaching quickly.
wheels were a big choice. requirements: lightweight, forged and square setup. i prefer classic wheel designs, nothing too crazy. 5 spokes, mesh, multi-spoke. after much thought, i ended up going with BBS REs. 18x8 et50 19.8 lbs. i ordered michelin super sports in 235/40/18 to wrap them.
i was seriously considering KW v3s, but after running the pss10s previously, i knew how good they were. i've heard nothing but good things about the KWs, but it's one of those - if it ain't broke situations. after serious searching, i found the correct set and ordered them immeditately.
i broke the cardinal rule: i mounted the wheels before the coils arrived. i actually did want to test fitment since i went to a 235/40. i didn't dare post pics yet.
i am eagerly awaiting the coils at this point. i hear a truck outside...
and this guy shows up
and i'm all like....
coils go on that night
no more tiguan status
a couple tweaks. and some shots the next day
i might make a few more tweaks to the suspension before the drive to sowo. i'm looking forward to the drive.
i'll update the thread with new additions as they are added. thanks for reading.
