Thinking about moving overseas (Dubai specifically) in the next year or so. I would like to take the opportunity to get something not available in the US.

Thinking R32/R33 Skylines, S15, Holdens, maybe a Fiat or Renault or the new Sirocco. Along those lines.

Cannot be too new or exotic. No special editions of models that made it to the US.

It's about $40,000 USD for a Focus RS in Dubai.

A non-LHD converted R32 GTR will run you around $13,000 USD. However, I'm not sure if it's the UAE or another Saudi kingdom, but you can only have the car for a year before you have to convert it to LHD or sell it/export it.

I couldn't find a UrQ sold without a turbo motor. They should all be 5cyl 2.2 20v Turbos. I'm pretty sure they were sold in the US from 83-87, but I'm no Audi historian.

I was probably your age in 83-87 and can't recall a single turbocharged Audi Coupe on the roads or on the dealer lots. IIRC, they were sold in Canada and there were (don't quote me on this) ~17 cars that made their way into the US via some agreement or another. One was for sale a few years ago.

Is there any kind of reference to this outside of this thread? Don't get me wrong; I'm not trying to argue with you. Like I said, I've never seen a USDM Quattro Coupe nor have I ever heard of them being sold via a dealer network. Can you post some info? 630 is a well-defined number. Where did it come from?

Edit: You piqued my curiosity, so I ran a quick Google search on the 630 cars, USDM availability, etc. Still drawing a blank. I mean, there's always a chance I was too stoned during those years to recall the events clearly. Would love some info.

I think i've heard that about the UAE too, unfortunately.

I've actually seen one in person in Dubai when I lived there years ago. Too bad they're stupid rare.
