I have a 2.5 Jetta and am looking to get an exhaust for it. I have never done any exhaust work and am not entirely sure what all I should get. I'm looking at catbacks right now, and not really sure which one to go with. But also I was considering headers too, but I don't really see anywhere to get them for this engine. Any ideas? And is it even worth the money? Also do I need a test pipe as well?

it depends how much you want to invest and where you live. as long as u dont have snow and are on a budget i recommend Tsudo. cheapest out there (300$) and a great sound too. but if no budget go for the best like eurojet or magnaflow. Anything 2.5" i recommend 3" is just too big. as for headers and down pipe, they produce minimum gains in hp(2-3hp maybe). only good if tune is in near future.

I do have a lot of snow where I live. Why does that effect the exhaust? And also I am going to get a tune done. That's next after exhaust.

I have a Magnaflow and to be honest, sometimes it is annoying how loud it can be. That said, the other 96% of the time it's all smiles. The off throttle burbling between shifts is ridiculous.

    High Flow Cat option

Most exhaust systems come as a cat-back setup. As for OBX being 'crap' -- I have them and already put 650 miles on it. Had mine ceramic coated and no issues thus far. I have a custom mid pipe with complete cat delete and O2 spacers welded in. Switched from V bands over to flanges for the cat back setup for a better seal.

The welds and internal meeting joints are literally identical to the EuroJet headers -- my friend has the original EuroJet set and we compared. OBX literally made a direct copy, just not as high quality of steel and they basically ripped it off and sent them overseas (cheaper production costs).

The only options are the Evo headers ($1,000+) and the OBX EuroJet copy ($240). EuroJets are no longer in production and since you heard OBX are 'crap', sounds like you're ruling them out entirely.

Because it's low price and mass produced in China. A lot of people bash stuff just because it is made in China --- if that were the case --- Rotiforms shouldn't be as popular and scene as they are now.

What it comes down to is EuroJet came out with their header. OBX snatched up one of them, secretively, and immediately worked on a copy. Within a month, OBX released their EuroJet copy and it was going for nearly a quarter of what EuroJet wanted, pricing wise...

Can't compete, get outta the way.

Very true. That other one, what was it, evolutions or something. That thing looks crazy. Wouldn't get it cause I can't afford it but I'd like to see how it compares to the others. That crazy looking design has to be good for something. Lol. Oh and thanks for the link to that high flow cat. I'm gonna try to pick it up while their still on sale.

Carbino CAI, USP Test Pipe, AWE cat Back, Tune,

^ my mods (still waiting on the cat to be made), and its what I would recommend/

Take that $1000 you would spend on the evo header and purchase a an SRI from C2 or UM.

Then save up for the turbo, clutch, mounts etc...

    done.
