Disconnect the electrical plug on the vacuum box in the trunk. Voila- Manual locks...
this is my first car thats newer than 1985 and im having some issues.
my central locking is screwing up majorly. the switch in the hadle seems to work fine, But for some reason it wont stay locked...
ive checked all the vac lines but to no avail. i know there is a leak somewhere, But i cant seem to find it. i have check the main pump and every inch of line i can see... any ideas? is there a way i can just get rid of it and get a maual locking system. F**ck power locks...
as you do not have the vacuum pump running.
One time the battery in my B3 was dead, and this is exactly how I unlocked the trunk and front driver's door.
You use the key to lock the front doors and trunk as if you have no central locking at all.
FS: AAA VR6 thermostat cover, B4 lower C-pillar plastic trim
VW DIYs and guides, color codes, DTC/P-codes
You might also check for moisture in & around the pump. My wagen had a leaky taillight seal & took on some water, resulting in a car that would lock & unlock at will. I could pull the knob on the door panel to unlock it & it would almost immediatly relock itself.
Had a very similar issue once. My driver side door vacuum actuator was slightly disconnected from the lines, but not enough to identify until I pulled it out. It was also catching on something inside the door, preventing it from fully locking.
