Hi everyone, this is my car. It's a 1999.5 Audi A4 1.8T Quattro AEB with 148,000 miles. At the moment it has a K04, 3" test pipe that needs the O2 sensor bung relocated, 034 silicone intake pipe, Forge manual boost controller set to 12-13psi cause the N75 valve is dead and gone, unknown diverter valve, EVAP system deleted, and a sweet 2.5" exhaust.

Here is my first pic. Don't worry, there will be plenty posted when things get done.

for starters on the motor, i would go with the chip/tune, injectors, exhaust and fmic first. you can get a decent increase in power from those alone.

i would also get larger brakes too before you crank out high hp numbers. these brakes arent the best, especially if you are going to be pushing 400hp.

In all honesty, id do ALL of the maintence, timing belt, water pump, check everything, and do everything i can before i modify anything. Then do Coils wheels, stance, then do motor, the motor stuff is a long process, and i chose to do the motor stuff first and got sucked in, now i have no money for coils or anyhting so i have to ride around at monster truck height until i can get money together.

i agree 100% with the maintenance first, especially timing belt and components. however its a matter of preference to go with motor or looks first. this is after all his car, but i personally would go with motor first so i could have a car that looks factory but fast, instead of looking fast but being factory. definitely good to bring up the choice now though so he can decide what to go with first.

I got the $. However most things will be gradual and I'm going to be looking for deals along the way.

Yea, that is exactly what I was thinkin right now. I know the brakes will need to be upgraded, I just need to look around and see what deals I can get.

Thanks, all maintenance has just been finished. I'm ready for upgrades, that is what I was thinkin too, I am currently trying to find some used coilovers and will grab them when I get the chance.

Engine, rims, and coils are top priority for sure. Right now the car apparently has a K04 turbo with a K03 spool or somethin like that so the turbo upgrade will be the last thing I think. I want about 250-300HP to start with for a while. 400HP or so is just a distant goal atm.

what engine code do you have? some models came with a K03/K04 hybrid which was a K04 compressor on a K03 exhaust turbine from the factory. not exactly a power house of turbos. looking forward to seeing progress on this.

AEB, my friend told me that he did the change himself, however, like you said it could be factory.

I don't like the crappy lookin stock bumpers, I want the RS4 replica for the front and a dual exhaust bumper for the rear and some nice plain side skirts.

I basically want this car's rear bumper:

The driver side headlight was broken, I needed to get new ones for it anyhow lol.

The new ones came in the mail today and I just finished installing them too.

Please don't ruin your first car by putting a gaudy body kit on it.

At no point, ever in life, should a 4 cyl car EVER have quad exhaust.

Just because you're young doesn't mean you have to make dumb modding decisions.
Take your time, visit audizine.com for some inspiration from the A4/S4 members there.

It's nice to want to repaint your car, but just find a replacement front bumper and spend your money on much more important things.

Good Luck with the new ride

Don't worry, it isn't going to be ruined with a quad exhaust, I just want a single tip on each side, however I may just do a single side when the time comes as body work will happen later this year or next.

I've been lookin for about 2 weeks now, I know what I like and don't like. I am going to try to make my car simple and clean. No crappy excessive parts or anything.

I'm redoing the bumpers cause stock looks like crap and the trunk was painted white and there are small dings everywhere lol.

Good Luck with the new ride
Thanks, don't worry, I am not going to over do the car and rice it out.

I'll just assume you have single-din non Bose and suggest this:

    Head Unit:
    • JVC KD-R530 - $90 (variable color display so you can set it to the perfect red)
    Front Doors:
    • Rockford Fosgate Prime R152-S - $100 (5.25" component speakers with a built in crossover)
    Rear Deck:
    • Rockford Fosgate Prime R165 - $60 (6.5" 2-way speakers)
Sub/Amp of your choice. Or use those sizes as reference and pick whichever speakers you like but I do recommend using Crutchfield.

That bumper is not an rs4 bumper in that video. That's a one off.

Thanks. I was thinkin Alpine Type-Rs for the speakers or somethin, my friend is going to make me a list of stuff for audio soon. I wanted a 1200watt sub and amp, but my friends keep saying no, that it is too much, yet I loved my friends system with 2 12" subs with 2500 watts lol.

What bumper are you talking about? The rear one right? I know that. I want to see if I can find it or if I need to make it myself.

Please do not waste your money on alpine speakers. Their decks are insanely nice, but their speakers are crap. Do yourself a favor and go with an alpine deck and get speakers of a brand that knows what they're doing (Rockford Fosgate, Kicker, Focal, etc).

Check out www.onlinecarstereo.com. Theres a lot of good and bad on there, but at least the reviews help you weed out the garbage from the good.

    So far:
    • Got a catch can
    • Ordered some turning signal lights cause these new ones use a different bulb. :/
    • My head light bulbs are very weak so I ended up swaping the high beams and regular lights and adjusted the leveling right now till i order HIDs. Works good for now.

Next is to get a intercooler. Also, my friend found someone to sell me some RS4 rims for $500. I am going to check them out soon and may grab them.

I'll have some pics up when finished.

Here is the catch can I got

Here is a headlight, I like them so far, they look great.

    The engine atm:

And apparently I have a better turbo intake pipe and a boost controller too. XD

Well, I ended up swapping to the OEM hood as I didn't like the aftermarket one, the only downside is that it is white like the trunk. XD

I got the RS4 rims yesterday and they need to be buffed a little and some paint, but I paid $500 for the set and $400 for new Nitto tires.

New turning signal bulbs are giving me connection issues as they keep disconnecting and not working. I Am going to put some solder on the connection of the bulb and see if that helps. And possibly get some conductive grease or something.

I, also installed some HIDs...cheap Xentec ones off of eBay. I hope they aren't too bad. :/

Here are some pics installed on the headlight:

I still need to fix a oil leak @ the turbo, I ordered the gaskets with a ECS Front Seat Guide kit to fix the wiggle in my front seat.

I also ordered a few mounts for the tranny and engine. Hopefully some of the slop will disappear.

I also bought a Precision Turbo Intercooler and silicone pipes for it. It should be here next week. Should be fun to finally install something for the engine lol.

Some ST coileovers are also on the way and should be here next week as well, I can't wait to lower it.

Apparently I ordered the wrong type of rear ABS sensor and I am currently waiting for the right one to come in the mail.

The brakes on the car are weak as hell! I need to upgrade bad. I'm thinking of getting some S4 rear calipers and the big brake conversion kit at ECS tuning for the fronts with some new brake lines and what ever else is needed.

Also, the clutch is starting to get annoying, it is soo warn out lol. If I get the new one soon I will want to do the engine work at the same time...grrr, I don't want to do it quite yet tho, but I may be building everything soon...

And finally I still need to go buy my audio system lol. My friend is hooking me up with wholesale pricing on fosgate speakers and whatnot.

Looks like a good start man. I would personally suggest just keeping the stock bumper. If I'm not mistaken that intercooler will fit behind the stock front bumper and that will easily save you a few hundred bucks (more after paint) and give you a sleeper look to scare away the kids. RS4 bumper is cool and all but not really necessary unless you need to fit a big ass IC behind it.

Could also save a few bucks by having the exhaust done locally. I had a custom 2.75" cat-back done for $600 locally with a magnaflow resonator and muffler and it looks and sounds great. Just a thought.

Headlights look pretty good, gotta say. Just make sure they're level and aimed correctly.

Mind sharing where you bought your rear ABS sensor? I need one for my back left hub.

Lastly, the ECS Stage 1/2/3 kits are a good deal and include their lightweight flywheel. The difference is noticable. Just thought I'd share.

Just my .02 on saving some cash haha. Good luck with it bro

Only 1 FMIC I know of that fits behind the A4 front bumper. Most of the others you have to cut the bumper up.

Simple and clean would be a full respray with the same color and all stock parts.

Yea, I would rock the stock look, but I honestly don't like the stock front bumper as I do the RS4 replica one. Plus I have a 3.5" thick intercooler in the mail so more space is a +.

Yea, I'm still thinking about that too, it is just finding some good metal that won't rattle and a good welding shop around here. I could get it done for a god price cause my best friend is a mechanic and has a bunch of connections in the area...crap, now you got me thinkin' lol.

Headlights look pretty good, gotta say. Just make sure they're level and aimed correctly.
lol, that is what I still need to do, I just haven't had the time. And I've been having an issue with the turning signal bulbs disconnecting. I soldered some solder on the bulb and it is helping right now, I am going to use some conductive grease or whatever it is to make the connection even better tonight when I adjust everything.

Mind sharing where you bought your rear ABS sensor? I need one for my back left hub.
Well, there are 3 different ones I have seen and you need to make sure you get the right one for your car.

This type is the one I got by mistake as the one for my year is different: http://www.ebay.com/itm/160783668972...S:3160&vxp=mtr

Then there is this one I need, or so I hope it is the right one lol:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Audi-A4-Quat...c5b5d7&vxp=mtr

I paid 52 for a Bosch one b/c my friend gets a shop discount.

And then there is this type: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Standard-Ign...435684&vxp=mtr

I hope that is not mine lol

Lastly, the ECS Stage 1/2/3 kits are a good deal and include their lightweight flywheel. The difference is noticable. Just thought I'd share.
I was looking to get their Stage 2 kit for $800. I believe that should do it for me.

Just my .02 on saving some cash haha. Good luck with it bro
    Thanks

    Welcome
Yep, I'll be cutting away this weekend when it comes in the mail. It is the Precision 600HP one, it is 3.5" thick. My stock front bumper is trashed so I am going to get the RS4 one when I get the body work done and the S4 sideskirts and the S4 lip for the rear or the whole euro rear bumper. I'm painting it s slightly darker silver and the hood, roof, and trunk are going to be black or I may get carbon fiber. We'll see how budget goes. lol

Also, I just went to a audio shop and i'm getting a whole new stereo set up. Rockford Fosgate all around. Hopefully it will be done by Wednesday.

I personally wouldn't recommend that catch can... my car had it for a while. The two top pieces that attach the barbed fittings to the can have extremely small holes that hardly allow flow in/out of the can... they are about 1/8" diameter holes. So in essence if you run that catch can your PCV system will be breathing through something SMALLER than a straw! My understanding is that a turbocharged car needs pretty good PCV flow.

So to replace that catch can I paid a bit more $$ and got this one:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/370261925251...witem=&vxp=mtr
Been running that for a few months now. It has much larger ports into/out of the can, but as a result I think I need steel wool or something along those lines to catch vapors.

Just took some quick pix the other day:

Oh and I got my ST coilovers in the mail. Thanks to HPA Motorsport.

Here are some pics with only the front ones installed. It was a little bit of a pain as we did not have the spring compressor. But we managed to do it with tie down straps and got them hooked up. We are going to do the rear tonight.

I got my precision turbo 600hp intercooler in the mail and the tubing. We are installing it tomorrow maybe. I'll put up pics later.

I also got gaskets/seals for the turbo oil leak i have. I'm going to fun replacing those.

And my mounts have arrived as well. I am waiting on the new rear ABS sensor still. I am going to shoot my damn headlights as the turning signals are still disconnecting sgkjnagkbaliwvgbkargskgbs.

I need to take off that tow hitch lol.

    oh and I lost $100.

looks nice, great start. But lower the rears a bit jeez.

Also, is there a big gap between the hood and driver's side headlight or am I seeing things?

Oops, just saw that you only did the fronts, nevermind. The rears are WAYYY easier by the way.

Thanks, and yes the headlights still need adjusting, I have just been lazy about it. lol

Yea, it was a LOT easier. And also, I rented a spring compressor kit from advanced auto and OMG, it is such a piece. It was meant for the springs that don't have struts in them.

I need to take some pics of it now that the rear is done, it looks and feels so much better with these new coilovers vs the old springs and struts.

    Here are some pics:

I need new brakes and rotors eh? lol

We did for the coilovers and it made things easy.

However, you can not spin down the stock, non-adjustable suspension.

How were your rear strut towers? I remember mine being decently rotted out in the back. Nice choice with the STs

    Thanks. They ride nice.

My towers were perfectly fine. No rust or anything. Just brake dust and grime.

Got the new tranny mounts, diff carrier mounts, and motor snub mount installed, everything is shanking now lol. Feels better overall when driving tho.

Here are the snub mount (red), diff carrier mounts (right side), and one of the old tranny mounts.

    carrier mounts

Diff carrier got sand blasted and painted over before we put it back in.

Here is the new tranny mount almost installed:

    Other tranny mount.

I also found out that I need to replace a axle boot. That should be coming by the end of the week.

Old rims and tires are for sale lol

So are the old shocks and springs:

And some random pics, I finally fixed and adjusted the headlights!

Oh and my spare tire well was flooded with water as well as my front driver side floor. Stupid leaks. I'll be fixing those soon.

And some ass cut or disconnected the rear driver side window motor or something so I need to plug or solder that back into place. I can hear it rattling and it doesn't work.

I still need to put the turbo cooling line gaskets in, oil change, fix the seat guides, get a stereo system, replace the passenger side axle boot, figure out whats up with the rear passenger side one, change the rear diff seals, and idk what else. lol.

Oh and I have some steel brake lines and ECS's front brake upgrade (TT carriers and A8 rotors) coming in the mail. Still need the S4 rear brake set up.

And I finally ordered the proper rear abs sensor so that should be fixed soon as well.

Ans the tow hitch will be gone this weekend.

    Anyone interested in a brand new, unused Precision 600HP intercooler? It is 31.50L x 8.00H x 3.50D, 2.75" Inlet/Outlet. (link)
