hi folks! today i noticed that my heating system in my 68 bay is pretty rusted out and the pipe that leads to the front of the bus is completelly gone.

    my question is...

would removing the "heating" system completely cause a issue with keeping the temp down in the engine compartment since it wont be diverted away.

and if so, is it ok/safe to remove the foil/plastic tubes that go from the fan shroud to the heat exchangers and still keep the heat down?

if you're never planning on running or having heat i'd advise you to get a nice 36hp style fan shroud and ditch the heater boxes for some nice "J" tubes. the motor is out and you're right there. plus the parts are cheap and easy enough to install.

also go ahead and get rid of the rest of the heater plumbing underneath the bus as if it's open at all at either end it's just going to be a collect all for dirt, rain, etc.

Yep, like he said, you can yank it all.
Although I would leave the german fan shroud and just plug the heater hose outlets.
Things I have read seem to say that they cool better than the aftermarket stuff.

see that's debatable right there. there are different schools of thought on the subject that say that plugging them actually interferes with the air flow inside the shroud and hinders cooling.

if you source a good aftermarket 36'er shroud with the internal fins you're just fine. and heck, seeing how that's a non-doghouse motor he has there he could even run a stock 36'er shroud. i might even have a spare one of those laying around

i would leave all the OE tin and heater boxes. the boxes do help the heads shed some heat. just my 02

the heat boxes are rusted away with 3 inch wide holes in the bottom. im just going to remove them, get some heat wrap for my exhaust pipes. and just run it how it as (as soon as its driving obviously) until i get some of those snazzy creative car craft tins.

...now if i can just figure out how im going to get the little nubs that broke off the valve cover bails inside the little port for them
