Just doing some generic maintenance on my car today, but I have an ABS light on my dash. This was never present until installing polyurethane bushings which obviously required me to remove the wheels/LCA's and replace them. After completing the job i noticed the ABS light and the traction? (Hazard triangle with arrows around it, right below abs light). I needed an alignment because i had one wheel pointing back towards the car slightly when in the straight position on the other side.
Got the alignment at a shop. Problem solved. Except the ABS light is still present. I assumed it was to do with the wheels being out of line and effecting the power/brake performance because of this. i have tried to clear it but its not displaying as a trouble code. (cant clear it) Is there another way to clear it? also after driving for a short distance with the abs light on the traction light will re-appear until i turn the car off. It is then not present again at restart. THIS IS DRIVING ME INSANE PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you using VCDS (VAG-COM) to clear it or a generic OBDII scanner?

Cheap OBDII scanner from ECS.... If needed I have a friend (previous owner) at

you may have pinched your abs sensor wire or cracked the sensor during the install. It sits rught behind the hub, check it to see if every thing is intact and in good shape. Cracked one not to long ago while beating out struts for a cup kit install on my cousin's jetta. About a $75 fix, which sucked but oh well.

Disconnect your battery and leave it off for a while. Then reconnect it. Start the car and see if the lights come back. I would get these lights on and off and found it was a fuse loose in the fuse box on top of the battery. It would make intermittent contact and the lights would come on.

If all of the above checks out ok then check your regional forum for some one with vag com and have them scan your abs.

Thanks, if looking at the driver side wheel, the left plug is the brakepad wear sensor, which must mean that the one on the right is the abs sensor? I did a brief inspection, no physical damage evident but couldn't quite disconnect it to check the contacts etc. Thanks.
