I only care if I can get it with a manual transmission. I was all set to by a charger, but alas, no manual option offered.

If the current build quality of Commodore cars is anything to go by, this one will be pretty darn awful.

Not from what I can see. The most "in your face" example would be bits and piece of trim falling off which makes quality of early 90s Saabs look like 1980s Mercedes Benz.

Considering NASCAR Sprint Cup cars are based on a standard body template, this tells us basically nothing about the car. You can see some fascia shape outlines, but they look exactly like the front end of a Malibu.

Have they always been like that?

My GTO had a really good fit/finish and was well-built--no rattles or squeaks, even with a stiffened suspension. I know its not saying much, but it was leaps and bounds better than other GMs made at the same time in terms of interior quality and materials.

Can someone here photoshop this based on the outlines in the image? The outlines are all there which accurately indicate what the SS will look like.

A photoshop would reveal what a Nascar prototype will look like, which has absolutely nothing in common with a production vehicle.

Saw my first cop-issue 2013 Caprice in the flesh today on I-80. It looked pretty good all blacked out with the angry service wheels on it. Front end styling comes off as understated, and the rear end is quite compact looking for such a substantial car.

After shadowing it for a spell, I gave it a personal

Wrong. It would give a very good indication as to what the front end of the production car will look like. The 2013 NASCAR cup cars will look very similar to the production varients, at least from the front facia.

I see this as Chevy trying to bring back their success from the 60s and 70s. Revive the brand etc.

Are you trying to say that World War II vets were unknowledgable about the subject of Nazis and the SS? If so, please return your HSD to Wal-Mart.

Chevy has used the SS badge pretty succesfully since the 1960s.

You sarcasm radar isnt working. Change the batteries.

The guy I quoted was trying to explain to somebody how Chevy SS has nothing to do w Nazi SS . He was saying that WW2 vets where ok w term SS in the 60s, why wouldn't we be ok w it in 2012. Hence my sarcastic comment.

Those cars have some baaaaaarely visible front end similarity to production cars, and some window cutout shapes, but otherwise are just slab sided stamped out from the same mold cars which bear no real resemblance to production. NASCAR hasn't used REAL production bodies since like, the sixties.

Outside of an airbag sensor going out, my G8 has been fine. The car has held up very well. The quality feels better than most GM products I've dealt with.

No different from the image of Chevy products here, except replace the bucket hat with a trucker cap and the beer with a Natty Ice. It's not like Americans have some romanticized vision of Australia the way we often do for Europe. Your redneck muscle cars just have four doors instead of two like ours, and that makes them more desirable for those of us rednecks who have families.

The Dodge and Fusion aren't as slab sided as teh Toyota or the old cars, and the front ends on all of them are heavily contoured to match the production cars. It's VASTLY more like the production aero than the old sticker cars.

No, it's not production bodywork, but it's the closest NASCAR has been since the early '70s.
I love cars, but the problem is they are like schroedinger's hobby. They're always in a quantum superstate of being both awesome and a huge waste of time and money... until observation momentarily forces them into one state or another.
