My neighbor had an El Camino next door when I was growing up, and I would just look at it, confused and sad, because it didn't make any sense. Is it a car? A truck? If it is a car, why is there a truck back on it? If it is a truck, why is there a car front on it? If it is a truck, why is there never anything in the back of it and why is it so low to the ground? Why does the owner wear nothing but jean shorts and short sleeve flannel shirts, unbuttoned with his huge cheeseburger locker hanging out all the time? Why was there NEVER a woman ever seen in the El Camino?
Well then, I'm going to buy a beater El Camino just to park in th middle of your front lawn. Why? Just because.

      This is for you

I guess this dude doesnt remember the concept from a few years back called the SS.

Just because someone is getting pissy about the name, I really hope its called the SS.

Oh you missed this thread then

Is it just me or does the logo look likes swastika?
I saw this originally, too. Not to mention that I do see a swastika now that Corbic mentions it.

It is kind of amazing that they let this logo past internal review.
Yeah, in fact I am. The first thing that I saw when I saw the logo was teh famous "SS" logo (Pictured above). In the U.S.A., at least, companies are generally extremely risk-averse when designing logos.

I was just a bit surprised.

I hope you understand that in certain countries such as Australia, running a massive truck such as F-150 is a complete waste of space and money and Utes have been performing their jobs quite admirably for the past 70 years or so. I highly doubt that is going to change any time soon.

Until my government stops wasting my money on supporting one of your stupid wars, I am going to disagree on that.

Yup. I mean there's gotta be a peaceful way of keeping those drugs flowing out of Afghanistan.

Is that why Toyota Hilux outsells Holden and Falcon ute combined by a gazillion? And is that why the most iconic vehicle of Australian outback is in fact a Landcruiser 70 pickup with a tin tray and not a ute?

Both Holden and Ford utes come with a tin tray as well. If you live outside of a major city, yes... something like a Hilux would probably make more sense as the roads are rougher. In Sydney however, you want something smaller than that.

Give it some style, for ****'s sake. It used to be the #1 selling car in Australia and has since taken a huge sales dive. It needs a shot in the arm, bad.
Can't you see that pic is a P-Shop combining a new Malibu and a G8? That is not the production SS.

Of course. That's why I said, "If it looks like that." I don't actually expect it to turn out that way.

I think the malibu front end looks pretty good. Then again I like the new Malibu and wished it was RWD. Its probably going to end up with an Impala-esque front end

      I kid . . . I kid!

Seriously, I have a book on the history of GM, and apparently the use of "Super Sport" predated WWII. Chevy refrained from using SS in the short period after the war due to its association with the Nazis. Eventually they brought it back knowing that most Americans would realize that "SS" meant "Super Sport" and not "Schutzstaffel."

There hasn't been an issue with the SS badging in the last 50 years, there wont be now.

This car is too long in the tooth to sell good here. I predict sales flop. Rebadging the G8 was a good idea, oh I dunno...4 years ago?
