Saying it is not ok for GM to sell a car name "SS" because WW2 is as stupid as saying it is not ok for Porsche to sell a car name "911" because of the September 11 attack.

A little insight from the G8 days.

I was selling new Pontiacs during those days. When GM threatened to bring the Ute over as the G8, I personally had 3 local funeral homes ready with cash for them. Why? Because, to make a flower car out of a Caddy costs over $60k+ brand new. The G8 Ute would have been around $30k and only maybe another $10k after putting the slides and rails in the bed. It also would have been a resell-able car once it came time to replace the fleet. Flower cars are just sawed up Cadillacs, but the Ute would have been for the most part unaltered.

I think there is a market for Utes. It may be small, but done correctly and having entry level trim levels it can be done.

NASCAR hasn't used REAL production bodies since like, the sixties.
If you cannot see how these 2013 NASCAR cup cars give a very good indication to what the production varients look like (at least the front facia) then forget it.

As I said before - if someone can highlight the edges of the camoflauged 2013 SS cup car, it would give a very good idea of what the production one will look like (from the front).

So that accounts for a couple of hundred per year.

I've seen in this area a couple of funeral homes using the Cadillac Escalade EXT as flower cars. Since those are now out of production, I could imagine the GMC Sierra Denali used in it's place.

That is a couple hundred in sales that are almost a guarantee. I know of a few small business owners that would use it for picking up their stock for the day. They had to buy a full size when they didn't need one. The couple hundred a year from each group in businesses alone would slowly add up to thousands and tens of thousands. I think the Ute would be a hit but only if they offered in a entry level model for businesses.

    Looks good!

20" Camaro wheel helps too. Which they also help enhance the G8's look.

I believe that will be it...everything lines up with the front of the Cup car, and it has the same "vent" in the front fender/door on the cup car as well.

I'm a fan of all kinds of cars, but not seeing the excitement around this one. Too many better RWD or AWD options out there, imo. Looks don't do it for me in any way either, at least not from the above pics.

To early to tell, but, the more 300 + hp V8 cars available in the low $30k range the better.

However, every design feature on it lines up correctly with the NASCAR stockcar.

    Different car.
Front doors are shared and pretty much all the interior pieces from the B pillar forward are shared, some minor differences due to spec differences. The Caprice floor pan is longer naturally but other then that the basic structure is the same.
Fwiw the front clip can be swapped over without major hacking, iirc it's all bolt off bolt on.

I hope so. It looks like it'd fit nicely alongside the GTO and G8. It may perform very well, and maybe even have a very nice interior, but it should look like it was made to serve the meaty part of this decade, not the previous decade.

That looks nice. This is going to be a good looking car, and based on how GM has been performing lately, the car itself (performance, refinement, etc) is going to match the looks. Fingers crossed that it sells well.
