    I think mine qualifies.

My 540/6 was also something of a sleeper; single exhaust, "yeah, it's some BMW..."

Once I manage more HP out of the Jetta, then it will become a true sleeper. Right now though people do not expect it to be as fast as it is.

V6 Accords have always been somewhat quick, so I do not qualify them as sleepers. Now if you had it with no badge and a single pipe, then I would say sleeper for sure. The 540 with just 280HP is not a sleeper by any means today, the Accord V6 almost has that much power. Do they make a S/C for the Accord by HFP?

Soon I'll be in this group. My Fairmont goes under the knife in the next couple of weeks or so, hopefully to be finished by September.

So far this thread is actually doing ok, usually TCLer's have a hard time with what a sleeper really is, and aside from the accord (?) we're doing well.

    Keep it up.

isn't that the opposite of sleeper?

If I saw that thing I'd figure it was some boy racer with a front mount for his stock-turbo chip tune. Certainly doesn't look like 500whp car.

Did you read what the man wrote? It had 500hp to ALL wheels. Any 1.8t can have an intercooler that big and have barely over 200whp.

And your point is.... Yeah the car looks like it has been beat, but that huge inter-cooler, to me it means it is not stock and may be packing a punch. You just do not know how much. To me the more stock the car looks the more of a sleeper it is.

My chipped T5 wagon in winter trim. I've caught a lot of people off-guard with my roof box & hubcaps.

It's a little more showy with the summer wheels, so probably doesn't count anymore.

best sleeper I've ever heard of was an stripped out RV with a supercharged big block.

Can only imagine getting smoked by an winnebago from a light.

    Some call mine a sleeper.

The sound of the exhaust and the lopey idle kind of give it away though.

I love threads like this where someone asks to see sleepers, and then a bunch of guys post cars that (albeit fast) look heavily modified, or obviously modified to be fast.

I'm pretty sure "sleeper" refers to a car that is generally thought of as slow. A car that has been made to be fast yet still looks slow.
