Electric coolant after-run pump. Keeps coolant circulating through the turbo for a few minutes after turning the engine off.

Just got the GLI on Sat and have been noticing that sometimes after I cut off the engine that it sounds like a fan keeps running near the front of the car for a minute or two...is that normal? Something to do with the turbo? Thanks

Yes, its absolutely normal... Especially if you live in a hot place, i live in tucson arizona and that happens after almost every ride longer than an hour or so![]()

Yup happens to mine all the time I'm in Houston. Also it happens if you get on it alot and spool the turbo.

Be glad it does that.... I just came from a mazdaspeed3 and even with always letting it sit a minute or two before shutting it off the turbo was smoking bad at 50k from all the oil build up in the turbo from not cooling down properly. I still usually do the same thing with my GLI but it seems much better designed on this car.

Sounds similar to what my first gen Saturn SL1 would do after a hot day drive to school. I would turn it off but the fan would still run for a few minutes after. I haven't noticed it on the GLI yet but it has not been too hot here yet.
But regardless of it being a new car or not I tend to drive a little easier during very hot days mostly for my own piece of mind.
