Thread: 3 spoke vw b5 steering wheel on pre-facelift b5 a4

  1. 05-16-2012 06:32 PM #1
Hello guys, i recently have bought vw wheel, which doesn't fit my a4 b5 1997 which's steering column is too slim for this wheel, i have found an adapter for it which looks like this

    it costs like 20 bucks
but the seller says that with this adapter you won't have corner lights automaticaly turned off when you will straighten your wheel. Have anyonne have any sugestions or experience in this ? What is the best way to do everything like OEM.n What do i have to modify ?
    Thank you.

Can't see the pic of the adapter but I presume you are talking about the steel sleeve that was fitted to mk2 & 3 golfs etc. I think the spacing on that is wrong to fit the Audi column properly iirc hence why the seller says the turn signals won't cancel. I think it will space out the airbag slip ring too.

Personally I'd just look out for an early B5 sport steering wheel so everything fits properly.
Throw an Audi engineer down a hole with a ladder and he will fashion a shovel from it and tunnel his way out

You bought a steering wheel from a mk4 golf/jetta, not from a b5 or any audi actually. This wheel will not fit on the column, just like you can't get them to fit on a mk2 or 3. Sell it, its actually worth more then a b5 wheel, and buy one of the dozens always for sale on here.

Yeah I'd sell that thing. The facelift tri spokes are way nicer anyway IMO. Rings fo' life.

Facelift wheels won't fit either. It needs to be a 96 or 97 to have the small splines
