B3 and B4 seat difference?

The fronts look almost identical and I know they're a direct fit. Is there a difference in the way that they feel or support your body, once sitting in them?

Is there a difference in the rears? Once again, they look incredibly similar.

B3 fronts in a B4 sit higher and sometimes have a slight "wobble". Other than that, difference in support goes unnoticed. Position adjustments on the B3 seats are slightly different, as well as the bolts that secure the seat rails from the B4.
The rears are essentially the same.

All I know is that the B4 seats are probably the most uncomfortable seats I've ever driven on. I'm still waiting to find some MK3 fronts to replace my rock hard seats with. How VW got away with making a solid foam seat with no bolsters is beyond me.

OK, so the main thing is that they'll sit higher and may wobble. Not really into that part. FWIW, I think the leathers in my B4 are pretty comfortable. A firm seat is always better than a soft seat for long distance driving.

the wobble is hit or miss & can be fixed w/ an extra piece of plastic track guide. other than that, the height difference is minor unless you're over 6ft.

Thats why I switch my seats 10 years ago when I first bought my B4 in 02 and got some Recaros .

I think your Seats might be broken, mine adjust front and back, seat angle and also recline.

Time to play with my back seats. Owned to car for almost 8 yrs and never noticed the rear seats move. It was even my parents car before it was mine.

Odd I just figured out how they go forward and back but don't know how they recline. To slide the seat there is a handle under the seat @ the front. Just like the front seats. So how do I get them to recline.

I know on the B4 there's a little handle by the quarter glass that lets them fold down, or locks them in straight up or like 10 degrees reclined. its on the edge of the seat, top corner, right behind where your shoulder would be

I guess somebody swapped B4 rears into my B3... mine don't do anything. There's a black piece of metal under the front of the rears, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Does the metal move? My seats were a lil stiff when I whent to slide them. They were all the way out and going in wasn't easy. I need to grease the tracks. Still wondering how to recline them

lol... nope... I'll have to get in there with some tools and lube and see if I can't get this figured out.

ok, just checked mine and they dont move forward or back at all. they just fold forward so the backs can sit flat. as for the backs "reclining" all mine have is two positions that can be selected with the lever that you use to fold them down.

Mine slide but the only "reclining" action is when the seats slide. Other then that its locked in the up right position or folded down.
