ok so i was looking into a newer car, and i have a m4 jetta. i was interested in a mk5 or mk6 gti 2.0t. and i heard they have problems and even with 80k miles they start having problems does anyone have them and can help me out or some people with opinions on those. and also a audi tt i was interested in or a mini cooper s and i was wondering if anyone had those as well and if they have any super crazy problems. and what do you guys out there think of the audi a4 2.0t, is it a big car b/c to me it seems like a big car. and i wanted a bmw but they are over priced and 6cylinder which means wastes a lot of gas and to turbo them is a lot of money. sorry just want opinions or ideas.

    LoL. Good point.

I have another suggestion -- don't over think your purchase. It's almost 9 months away.
So let me get this straight? Your engine is 1.8-liters, and my pop is 2?

    Well there are two motors:

    FSI:

All of the FSI issue with Cam Follower can be dealt with in simple check/replace intervals @20k - 50k.

My only advice is to get a 2007 with a B Cam to help with this.

A/C Compressor might fail in 06-07 cars... so have $1,500 tucked away.

Other than that the FSI is a pretty reliable powerplant if you keep up on maintenance.

    TSI:

Great motor but I have seen a few threads pop up about timing chain/guide failure and water pump issues.

I am sure that these are 1 in 10,000 events but its good to know.

if you are coming from a MK4 and you are spouting hate for VW get a MK5 and MK6... they are the best gens imo for VW.
