You know how some unmodified cars manage to minimize wheel-to-body gap, while others don't?

Post up excessive wheel gap here. UNMODIFIED ONLY. CARS ONLY.

For starters, a 300C with AWD. Why such high ride height to get half shafts up front?

So people can fit 22"s without having to modify the car.

I always thought that these S10's were pretty high even for a truck.

This post would be blasphamy in the mk4 forums hehe. I don't ever go on there anymore. I don't have a problem with this thread though.

Those are the first cars that always come to mind for me. People often focus on wheel gap with regards to whether a car is too tall or not but those always just seemed off to me even from the direct front or back. Even when people lower them and make the wheel gap more to what people might consider acceptable they still have a lot of space between the bumpers and the ground making them still appear very tall.

Are we talking Ride Height or Wheel Gap because I see more instances of the latter so far. Some people think the current GLI is too high but I cannot figure what they are comparing it too because any lower and it would be rubbing the street all over the place.

Much along the lines of the 300C w/ AWD, the E46 XI's have a terrible wheel gap. For these AWD cars though, at least it done for a reason.

Another offender...the GLI VR6. When we had ours, we lowered it ~1.5" and it was perfect.

That rule doesn't always apply. As bland as the car is, I've always thought the newer Civics did well on wheel gap.

See thats what I mean. For $32K you would at least think Toyota would minimize the gap and get rid of the Prius tires. And those oem wheels looks hideous.

The gen before this one rode pretty damn low too. Not sure if they had low suspension setups for gas mileage/aero or looks or what....

Pic you posted doesnt look real. The maxima from what I have seen has a nice low gap.

It's a real photo, but here's another. Still pretty tall back there:

No really cars that are less than $30k, the car companies do not spend much RandD and effort to minimize the gap for the sake of aesthetics. BMW for example makes sure that wheel gappage is minimal (makes the car look more expensive). So you would expect at least Toyota would put effort in minimizing gappage on a car that would cost $30k instead they built it cheaply and put in a sub $20k gappage on the car..totally unacceptable. Another among plenty of factors why the scion/brz is totally overpriced.

Always felt this was one of the worst offenders due to the AWD friendly height.

Nissan's are the worst about this!!

You could lower an s13 240sx 4 inches and still have a little wheel gap!

Owning this car is like having a 2 year old child, its really annoying for a lot of the time, but if someone tried to take it away from you... you kill them! - Jeremy Clarkson
